9.00pm: Annual Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Awards 2019 in association with the Patrick Kavanagh Society. Presided over by adjudicator Brian Lynch.

10.00pm: An evening of contemporary-folk songs with singer songwriter Briege Murphy.
Recipient of a” Keeper of the Tradition” award, Briege’s self-penned contemporary-folk songs portray a distinct sense of place, many finding their roots in our native traditional Irish music.

Saturday 28th September 2019

9.15am: Conducted walking tour of Patrick Kavanagh Literary Trail in Carrickmacross with Larry McDermott.
Assembly: The Valley Lodge – opposite St. Joseph’s Church.

11.00am: Poetry Readings by the winners of the 2019 Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award.

12.00pm: The Circularity of Things: Thoughts on the Writing Process.

A lecture/performance by singer and ethnomusicologist Seán Corcoran with musical interludes by virtuoso flautist Brian Dunning.
